 The Tween Market Heats Up
Last month's Greetings etc. N.O.W. detailed the growth of the children's market. In this installment, we fast forward to the next demographic of major concern in the marketplace -- the tween sector!
Not-quite-teens have been a powerful buying force for years now as evidenced with the plethora of tween-themed television shows and movies that seem to flood the airwaves. Don't ignore this emerging group of future paper buyers. Hitting the right blend of trendy and youthful, yet sophisticated takes some creativity, but getting the text- and e-mail-savvy generation to embrace "actual" greetings could equate to major profits!

THE TWEEN SCENE
 One of the strongest sectors with proven selling power is the tween market. The teeny bopper mindset has driven television programming, movie schedules, book publishing and all manner of accessories. Stationery should not be any different. Several vendors have recognized the need for tween and teen-friendly products.
Retailers are embracing this product niche and vendors are providing ample offerings that appeal to the tween set with stationery items that are youthful, but have a slightly sophisticated side to appeal to those almost-teenagers.
